BOB Website Ups & Downs

www.bikersofbaghdad.bravehost.com

If any of you have been checking the BOB website regularly you’ll have noticed that it has changed practically on a daily basis. My apologies for messing around with the damn thing so much but I’ve been relearning HTML programming from scratch and it’s proven painful to say the least. The bottom line is that it’s up, running, and provides the basics for our group. Over time I will diligently attempt to improve the quality, but please bear with me as I get back into the swing of web page design. Part of the problem is I’m just not that bright and I’m faking the rest.

Membership Cards

I was hoping to produce a plastic membership card for every member free of charge, and while I can order plastic member cards the cost is quite prohibitive. Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary to have such a glitzy card and a professionally produced paper card will do. With that said I plan to have everyone’s membership cards completed and in the mail by the end of the month. Some of you haven’t yet provided a mailing address so get on it if you want one. A picture of the newly designed membership card is the last item in this newsletter.

BOB Rides with PGR

It is with distinct pleasure to announce that the Bikers of Baghdad have been approved as a group that is authorized to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders. I was introduced to this group in February when, unbelievably, a protest group showed up at the Fort Campbell main gate to denounce our soldiers during one of our memorial services. Needless to say I was outraged and planned to see who the hell these people were. Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately), the post commander ordered all of us in uniform to stay away from the demonstration. He also closed that gate to all military traffic to prevent any conflict. To my great relief the Patriot Guard Riders (www.patriotguard.org), showed up to challenge this misguided group and with the help of citizens from the local community, they managed to put these wackos in their appropriate place. I’d ask you to take a look at the PGR website. PGR is a non-confrontational, non-protest group, which have served as a wheeled guard of honor for our war dead. They only attend funerals or other services at the invitation of the family and have done so in almost every state. Some of them are veterans but many are not, but they honor our service with their dedication and support and I think we should all feel honored to have our organization recognized to ride with theirs.
