Volume 1, Issue 3                                                                                  April 2006

Sturgis Baghdad II

I’m pleased to announce that the Biker’s of Baghdad will help sponsor this year’s Sturgis Baghdad II the third week of August in the infamous Green Zone downtown Baghdad. This event gives those who ride a brief diversion from the constant workload and worry associated with working in a combat zone. For a few hours (with live music and bikers walking around in leathers, tragically without their scoots) people can forget what’s going on outside the inescapable T-Walls and feel like they’re back in the world doing what they love most. Scott Hedlund, a BoB member, is putting this together and is looking for assistance either from folks deployed or folks at home. For those of us at home anything biker related would be welcome, particularly items from dealerships that they might be willing to donate to sponsor the event. Last year many dealerships donated left-over event t-shirts or close-out items for other events and I plan on visiting my local HD dealer in the hopes of gaining their support. For those of you willing to do so, please contact your local dealership for anything they’re willing to donate and send all items to Scott Hedlund at the below address. Folks, we’ve all been there, the combat groundhog day: Get up, eat chow, go to work, go to bed, get up, eat chow and on and on and on. Let’s show our support for our brothers and sisters still in harm’s way by doing what we can to give them that brief operational pause, because we all know how much it means when we can forget Iraq’s harsh reality, even for just a few short hours.
